Sima El Barbir
President
Hi! I am a senior at Lovett majoring in Finance. I am so excited to serve as the President of RWiB this year! I’ve previously interned with J.P. Morgan and GE Healthcare, and will be pursuing a career in investment banking after graduation. I’m originally from Lebanon, but I grew up in Dubai, UAE! In my free time, I love working out, trying new restaurants, and traveling!
Abigail Chiu
Vice President
I'm Abigail, a junior from Martel studying business and history! I love going to Pilates, reading historical fiction, and getting my steps in on the inner loop. My favorite thing about RWiB is the welcoming, supportive culture, which was hugely helpful to me in my own career and recruiting journey.
Janie Ye
Secretary
Hi! I’m a sophomore at Duncan College majoring in Mathematical Economic Analysis and Business Finance. I’m super excited to be RWiB’s secretary and look forward to all of our events this year! Along with RWiB, I’m also Treasurer for Chinese Student Association and part of Rice Kasama. I’m from Minnesota and I love cafe hopping, scrapbooking, and listening to music.
Blaise Martinez
Career Development Chair
Hi, I’m Blaise! I’m a sophomore at Martel studying Finance and Environmental Studies. I am so excited to be RWiB’s Career Development Chair this year! On campus, I’m involved with the Rice Undergraduate Investment Fund, 180 Degrees Consulting, and the Hispanic Association for Cultural Enrichment at Rice. I’m originally from Lubbock, Texas, and I love going to the gym, exploring new coffee shops, and traveling. A fun fact about me is that I studied abroad in Paris this past summer!
Sophia Cho
Social Chair
Hi everyone! My name is Sophia Cho and I am a sophomore from Sid Richardson studying marketing and social policy with a minor in Korean. I previously interned at an engagement/wedding coordinating firm, studied abroad in Korea, was a student ambassador for Windows, and currently am working at the Jones graduate business school as an operations/marketing student associate. On campus, I'm involved with the Rice Program Council as a co-chair for festivals, cross-campus event planner for RSA, and I am also on the socials committee for Sid Rich! I'm originally from Jersey but I spend a lot of my time in NYC just exploring the area and always trying new cafes!
Mariela Munguia

Hi! I'm a senior at McMurtry College, majoring in Business Marketing with a minor in Entrepreneurship. I'm passionate about the intersection of business strategy and innovation. My career interests involve marketing, consulting, and multicultural brand development. I have experience in marketing and communications in the public service sector and in retail. I'm originally from Mexico City, and outside of academics, I love listening to music, hiking, and dancing.
Mira Kadapurath
Social Impact Chair
Hi, I’m Mira! I’m a junior from Baker studying Finance and Social Policy Analysis. Outside of RWiB, I intern at the Baker Institute’s Center for Energy Studies and am involved with ACT Rice and 180 Degrees Consulting. My career interests are at the intersection of energy, strategy, and policy. I’m originally from Virginia, and outside of school I love reading, traveling, and exploring new restaurants!
Kekeli Bruce
Treasurer
Hi! I'm a junior at Duncan College majoring in Business Finance, with minors in French & Philosophy. I currently serve as Treasurer for RWiB and am so excited to be involved. I’m pursuing a career in corporate law and have prior experience working with an education-focused nonprofit supporting students in West Africa & as a French translator during the 2026 World Cup! On campus, I’m engaged in several activities, including being a supervisor at the Rec Center and leading several Duncan initiatives. Outside of academics and extracurriculars, I love watching and playing sports—especially soccer—and meeting new people!
Valerie Zhang
Corporate Relations Chair
Hi, I’m Valerie! I’m a junior at Lovett from Austin studying Managerial Economics with minors in Financial Computation & Modeling and Creative Writing. I’m so happy to take on the role of Corporate Relations Chair this year. On campus, I’ve been involved with Rice Program Council and Rice Transfer Student Association. I love making coffee and matcha, reading classical literature, baking bread, and going to orchestral concerts!
